Running for Excellent
Jason completed the London Marathon in an impressive time. Here's a picture of his certificate!
Excellent Development would like to say HUGE congratulations to Jason Harrison for representing us at the London Marathon 2012.
Jason first heard of Excellent Development in 2011 through our BBC Radio 4 charity appeal. Little did we know that he is an ‘ultra-runner’, which means he runs distances that most people would wince at the thought of walking. Think 40 miles. Often off-road.
Shear madness, but Jason thrives on it!
Jason had kept up to date with Excellent through our email newsletter. Through this he discovered that we had a space in the 2012 London Marathon. Jason bagged it quickly and soon set about training.
The real challenge for Jason was to increase his speed. With a personal target of 3 hours 15 minutes for the race, he set about fundraising; creating two donation pages and writing a regular blog to keep everyone up to date with his progress. He even turned up at a business breakfast in his running gear (it’s revealing!) to promote his event.
On the day, Jason completed the marathon in an inspirational three hours and seventeen minutes. An incredible time for most, but this super-hero wasn’t quite satisfied. So, Jason has decided to run the Kent Coastal Marathon in September to raise even more for Excellent – and get his time down even further.
As if this were not a fantastic enough, Jason has also persuaded his choir to put on a fundraising performance at about the same time.
Well done Jason - and thanks for running for Excellent!
Let’s face it, you shouldn’t be supporting Excellent because I’m working hard in my running and singing. Support Excellent because they’re doing really good work.
