Ghost Hunting at Smithills Hall, Bolton

Ever fancied spending the night in a haunted house?

Then sign up for Excellent Development’s Ghost Hunting event and meet the spooks of Smithills Hall in Bolton! Excellent Development have teamed up with North West Spirit Seekers for this exciting event, taking place on Friday 20th March.

Smithills Hall dates from 1335, and is one of the North West’s most haunted buildings. During its colourful history it has passed through several different families, until it was sold to the County Borough of Bolton in 1938. Many of its former residents are said to haunt the hall to this day.

You might see the Grey Lady sitting in the front pew of the church, have your bottom pinched on the stairs, or perhaps you will encounter poor George Marsh, tried for being a protestant and later burnt at the stake. An eerie energy is said to be felt in the Great Hall, and some won’t even enter the Green Room due to its malevolent atmosphere.

About the Event

  • The event will take place on Friday 20th March 2009

  • Your evening will start with an exclusive tour of this historic building accompanied by its resident medium

  • You will then be split into groups for further investigation of the venue and its ghostly inhabitants

  • The evening will finish with a summing up of any ghostly activities witnessed during the night

  • Tea and coffee and a buffet dinner will be provided

  • The timing of the event is 9pm until 3am. Accommodation is not provided.

Registration costs £15, and we ask each participant to raise a minimum of £100. Just complete the form, which can be emailed or posted back to us.
