TreeDuty Jute Bags

Excellent TreeDuty Bag
Excellent TreeDuty Bag

Excellent Development is proud to present the TreeDuty jute bag. These attractive and sturdy shoppers are available to buy online (£3.99 +P&P) via eBay, or will be yours free when you sign up to offset your annual carbon emissions through Home TreeDuty.

About the Bag
TreeDuty bags are the product of an environmentally friendly journey which starts with the cultivation of the jute plant by small-scale farmers in India. Jute is a natural product and an environmentally friendly crop as it completely decomposes, putting back valuable nutrients back into the soil.

The farmers cut down the flowering stems, dry them in the sun and soak them in water to extract the fibres. The fibre is then woven into bags in ethically sourced factories. The bags are printed using low-pollution dyes and have a biodegradable lining, which helps to strengthen the bag and keep its shape. They are transported to the UK by ship and each step of the process is fully carbon offset.

Best of all, the more bags like these are used, the fewer plastic bags there are to clog up landfill and sewage systems, causing the death of plant life, and of birds and mammals who eat or get entangled in plastic. The less plastic produced, the less their production can produce the greenhouse gases contributing to global warming.

About TreeDuty
TreeDuty is Excellent Development's charitable carbon offsetting scheme. TreeDuty donations offset carbon dioxide emissions by planting endangered and medicinal trees in protected forests in Kenya. The planting of rare and endangered species boosts regional biodiversity. Improved soil and water conservation from planting trees further helps mitigate the impacts of climate change in the semi-arid areas where we work.
