Excellent Development KenyaExcellent Development Kenya (EDK) was registered as a Kenyan NGO in 2005 by Joshua Mukusya, Simon Maddrell, Jenine Langrish, and Esther Ithau. Additional founding members are Stephen Owen, Chris Pockett and Darren Worsley.
Joshua and Esther are both founding members of the Utooni Development Group, the original inspiration for Excellent Development UK. Read more about the Utooni Development Group. Excellent Development Kenya expanded the Utooni Development Group's work with community self-help groups wishing to improve their water and food security. In October 2009, EDK changed its name to Utooni Development Organisation (UDO), recognising that its model, philosophy and values are based on the Utooni Development Project. In addition, a new board and membership was elected consisting entirely of Kenyan citizens, reflecting its status as an established local Kenyan NGO. UDO continues to be supported by EDK's major funders - Excellent Development UK and the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
