Water Tanks & Pipelines

Sand dams are not the only solution Excellent Development enables in Kenya.

Some communities live nearby to a spring created from the water from Kilimanjaro. We have helped the Meka community in Makueni District to dig a 14km pipeline from the spring and build a water tank to make low-cost clean water available in the area. In the future it is planned that this will be extended to four nearby communities.

The benefits are astonishing; the Meka self-help group lost 15 people to Typhoid in one month alone caused by collecting water from a permanent river 10km away. Now they have sand dams, a community pipeline and water tank, deaths from Typhoid have been eliminated.

Another community near Mtito Andei live near to the water pipeline running alongside the Nairobi-Mombasa railway line. We have helped them to build a pipeline and water tank, which provides water for the community and enables them to start a tree nursery.
