"As a Civil Engineer I have spent twenty two years of my working life designing and building infrastructure projects in the United Kingdom and other parts of the developed world, all of which have improved people’s lives in some small way. In September of 2010 I was fortunate enough to be part of a team of volunteers who went to Kenya to work on a different sort of infrastructure project, a Sand Dam. This Sand Dam will have more impact on the local community than any previous project I have ever worked on. Being involved in the project has changed my outlook on life, and I am proud and humbled to have been involved in a project which will improve the lives for so many and will last for generations to come.”
