The 2.6 Challenge is a simple, fun and safe way for everyone to fundraise and help save the UK's charities during this challenging time.

Sadly, many fundraising events, charitable activities and general operations have been postponed, cancelled or reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Click here to read about how Excellent's work is being directly impacted.

As a result, we're asking if you can take on the 2.6 Challenge and help raise vital funds to support our work of transforming vulnerable lives in drylands through sand dams, providing access to clean water and climate-smart agriculture.

The 2.6 Challenge is for everyone! Whether you get sponsored to workout for 26 minutes, bake 26 cookies, sing a song for 2.6 minutes or make a donation of £26.26, you'll help make sure we can still continue to support communities who are suffering from severe water and food insecurity.

Taking part is easy!

There are 3 simple steps:

1. Set up your fundraising page or make your donation.

2. Do your 2.6 challenge.

3. If you're on social media, share your challenge for Excellent (tagging @thisisexcellent on Twitter or @excellentdevelopment on Facebook) and use the hashtag #TwoPointSixChallenge

How your fundraising helps

Here is just a few examples of how your support could help vulnerable dryland communities:

  • £15 could provide a dryland farmer with drought-tolerant seeds, to grow a reliable source of fresh food for their children

  • £30 could supply a community with a rake, gardening fork, shovel and watering cans, to plant trees for fruit, fuel and fodder

  • £60 could provide a community with a roll of barbed wire, to reinforce their sand dam; which, once built, will go on to provide them with lifelong access to clean water

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your continued support, despite these difficult times. We hope you will be able to support us today, at a time which is most critical to communities living with the adverse effects of water and food scarcity. And above all else, we hope you, your family and friends are, and remain, safe and well.
